Our tanks are not for everybody.

We developed the Squareline Flexi Tank™ to satisfy a demanding customer base with very specific needs.

Our customers need large water storage capacity in a single, good looking water tank which makes efficient use of the available space and will not intrude physically or aesthetically into their valuable outdoor living and entertaining space.

A demanding customer base with very specific needs

We designed the Squareline Flexi Tank™ for Adelaide households with the following needs:

Households who want to store enough water to make them self sufficient in Adelaide’s dry climate and increasingly stringent water regulatory environment,
Households who care about the look of their rainwater tank and how well it aesthetically blends into their particular garden and outdoor living space;
Households who want a tank that fits into narrow spaces like the “slimline” tanks do, while at the same time need the large water storage capacity typically found only in large round tanks;
Households who have site access problems and do not want the expense and complication of messing with cranes and heavy trucks;
Households who want to deal with just the one local designer/ builder who is knowledgeable about Adelaide conditions and can offer practical solutions to conflicting objectives;

Once they start looking at the range of tanks available in the market place, our customers find that, uniquely with our tanks, they don't have to make unacceptable compromises. For example they don't have to trade off large tank capacity for good looks. Neither do they have to forego their need for large tank capacity for a slimline design in order to fit their tank into a narrow space. (No other tank on the market can reconcile all these objectives in the one large capacity, good looking, slimline tank.)

We work with you to create a high quality, customised solution to your rainwater storage problem paying careful attention to your individual landscaping and gardening needs. We listen to you, we advise you on your needs, we discuss your options with you and we work with you to achieve your objectives. No loose ends, no hidden extras, no passing you off to other contractors half way through the job.

The need for large water storage capacity

Our customers live in Adelaide. The primary motivation of our customers is to substantially reduce their reliance on the SA Water mains supply.

Adelaide has the lowest rainfall of any Australian capital city. And Adelaide has the most seasonal pattern of rainfall with over half occurring in just four months of the year (from June to September). The summer months (November to March) have negligible and unreliable rainfall. So Adelaide households know that to get through the summer with some water left in their rainwater tank, they need large water storage capacity – between 10KL and 40KL, depending on household size and individual consumption patterns.

Our customers also know that in the future they face climate change resulting in drier and warmer weather conditions. Climate scientists at the Weather Bureau and the CSIRO, for example, have recently confirmed these future climate trends in terms of lower rainfall and hotter summers, where extreme heat waves will in future descend on Australia’s South East far more frequently than they have in the past.

Our customers tell us that until they came across the Squareline Flexi Tank™, they could not find a conventional water tank that satisfied all of their needs. Specifically, they could not find a conventional water tank large enough for their needs that was also acceptable on aesthetic considerations.

The need for a good looking single rainwater tank

Our customers value their investment in their home and family lifestyle. They are unwilling to put this investment at risk by purchasing a conventional water tank because they feel it will take up too much room or it will look out of place in their garden (or both).

So, a common remark made by Adelaidians we talk to at Tanks in Tight Places, is that while they have every intention to break away from their reliance on SA Water mains supply, they are put off by the appearance of the current range of water tanks on the market. People who would otherwise be willing to buy a rainwater tank tell us that conventional water tanks are so unattractive, so difficult to “hide” in the garden and so costly in terms of taking up “dead” space that they just cannot bring themselves to purchase the offerings of conventional tank manufacturers.
